Signs that a divorce may be on the horizon

Your wedding day was one of the happiest days of your life. This goes for your spouse too. You had visions of a life spent together, and bringing children into the world.

For a few years, everything went according to plan. However, in recent weeks you've noticed a dramatic shift in how you and your spouse relate to one another. You can't quite pinpoint what's going on, but you know something is amiss. Could divorce be on the horizon?

Have you caught your spouse in a lie?

Open communication is one of the cornerstones of a successful marriage. Lies, even the smaller ones, can breed mistrust. Your spouse told you they were working late, so you thought you'd be nice and pick them up afterward. Upon arrival, a coworker tells you that your spouse left a couple of hours ago, with one of their close friends at work. There could be nothing to this, but the fact that your spouse felt they had to lie about it isn't a good sign.

Are you indifferent about your spouse?

Passion can manifest itself in many ways, not all of them positive. You and your spouse might get on 99% of the time, but the 1% of arguments are fiery affairs. Nevertheless, they don't get out of hand and you always feel closer to one another afterward.

Maybe these arguments have recently stopped? Perhaps you feel indifferent towards one another now? If the passion has gone completely from your relationship, it could be a sign that something is seriously wrong.

If the differences in your marriage seem irreconcilable, then a divorce may be your only feasible option. Before you make this move, make sure you are fully aware of your legal rights.
